This is about what all game designers should do.
Design is crafting things that are really useful.
Art déco FTW!

This game is a hack of Kumada's Game Lamprey (a brilliant parasitic game) and Alexi Conman's Guards At The Nexus Of All Worlds (Based on a traditional game, really)

Game Lampshade is a bit of an enigma. It's a hack of Game Lamprey and Guards At The Nexus Of All Worlds, and like Game Lamprey it sort of works by deleting material from a tabletop game.

Unlike Game Lamprey, you aren't physically ripping pages out of the game. Instead, you pick a word to 'dim', and then you have to try and talk around it without actually saying it.

Lampshade is definitely a little surreal, but there are absolutely games where a little surreality would enhance the experience. Definitely take a look if you're craving something weird.

Hi, You’re spot on with “surreal”. I think the most traditional games will benefit from a bit of Lampshade or Elevator talk. Thank you for the kind words!
